Komatsu launches 1,880 hp excavator

Komatsu has unveiled the PC5500-11 excavator. It is equipped with two Tier 4 engines with a total output of 1,880 hp, a aftertreatment system and several bucket types for different applications.
The aftertreatment system for the engines reduces the amount of solids in the emissions. The excavator has an operating weight of 533 to 552 tonnes and a bucket capacity of 29 to 28 cubic metres.

The new model can be adapted for use in cold or hot climates and is suitable for bituminous sand and hard rock. The excavator has been equipped with an ergonomic lifting and lowering system, an upgraded emergency exit system, and enhanced visibility from the cab.
The PC5500-11 has Komtrax Plus 2 and Komatsu Argus monitoring systems, which generate online reports to monitor the machine and correlate excavator and dump truck data at the job site.
