The Zeppelin Group not only celebrated the opening of a new branch in St. Petersburg, but also its 20-year presence in Russia. With the investment in a modern service workshop, spare parts warehouse and office building, the company is still clearly committed to the Russian market, said Zeppelin.
It is good reason to celebrate that the group has been present in Russia for 20 years and continues to expand its activities here. We are proud that the branch will create new jobs and thus contribute to economic stability and growth in the region, ”said Andreas Brand, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Zeppelin GmbH, about the opening ceremony.
The Zeppelin Group has been represented in northwest, central and southwestern Russia since 1998. The company offers services for the delivery of a wide range of machines and engines from the global Caterpillar brands, used in construction, mining, oil and gas industry and special machines from the Finnish manufacturer Ponsse, which are used in forestry. The St. Petersburg branch is, according to Zeppelin, the largest own location in Russia and the most important regional location for the entire northwestern region of the Russian Federation. Several industrial and mining companies have settled there, which have an increased need for reliable and smoothly running machines.
“We are proud of our long-standing, trusting customer relationships in Russia. With our investment, we clearly show that we are still committed to the Russian market. The opening of the new location in St. Petersburg enables us to bring the quality and scope of services for our customers to an even higher level, ”said Peter Gerstmann, CEO of Zeppelin GmbH, explaining the step taken by the group.
The Zeppelin Group is investing a total of around 17.5 million euros in the more than 40,000 square meter company site, which includes the modern service workshop for machines and engines, the regional central spare parts warehouse and a new office building and offers jobs for more than 150 employees. Holger Schulz, Managing Director of Zeppelin International and General Director of Zeppelin in Russia, is pleased that he can further strengthen the long-standing partnership with Zeppelin customers: “With the new regional sales and service center in St. Petersburg, we can meet the increased demands of our customers the maintenance and repair of your constantly growing machine fleets in the future even better and faster. In addition, the modern location offers excellent opportunities to expand the range of services and solutions offered”.
Despite the difficult geopolitical situation, the Zeppelin Group was very successful in Russia with a total turnover of USD 320 million in fiscal year 2018. The long-standing sales and service partner Caterpillar operates a plant near St. Petersburg, in which hydraulic excavators and dump trucks are produced for the local market. This proximity also has a positive impact on business. In addition to numerous high-ranking representatives from politics and business and the Zeppelin Group management, Caterpillar representatives Denise Johnson, Group President (Mining), Tom Pellette, Senior Vice President and Richard Kinsey, Vice President (Cat Finance) attended the celebrations in St. Petersburg and underlined Caterpillar’s commitment to the Russian market.
